Al Thomas Forces Game 5 vs Braves


Al Thomas snatched the lead late in their 7-6 victory over Brighton Braves on Tuesday. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run.


Brighton Braves opened the scoring in the first after # 12 singled, scoring one run.


Al Thomas captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Tim Cooper drew a walk, scoring one run and Jake Beane then hit into a fielder's choice, which scored 2 runs.


Brighton Braves tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a walk by # 24, and a single by # 33.


Brighton Braves took the lead, 6-3, in the top of the third after # 34 singled, # 1 singled, and # 24 doubled, each scoring one run.


Sam Browning lined out, scoring Cam Plank, which helped Al Thomas tie the game at six in the bottom of the 4th.


Cooper went all 7 innings, throwing 167 pitches and earned the win for Al Thomas A’s. The starter surrendered eight hits and six runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking 12. # 20 started on the hill for Brighton Braves. The starter allowed six hits and six runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking two.


Beane led the team with two runs batted in. Browning led Al Thomas with three hits in four at bats and scoring 2 runs.


Game 5 will be played tonight at Rogers Park, 7:30pm first pitch. Winner goes to the 2024 YBL finals vs either The BASE or The Brighton Black Sox, who play game 5 tonight as well.
